About Air Greenland:
Founded by Scandinavian Airline Systems and Kryoliteselkabet Company, Greenlandair established its operations in 1960. Two years later, the provincial government and the government of Denmark became co-owners of Greenlandair.

Operating its first jet aircraft in 1998, Greenlandair used a Boeing 757-200. The airline changed its name to Air Greenland in 2002. The following year, nearly 95,000 passengers were provided with intercontinental service to Copenhagen. That same year, the airline won a contract for flights to Thule Air Base by the US Air Force and began flights starting in February of 2004.

As part of its restructurization program, in 2009, SAS Group executed its decision to sell shares of Air Greenland set back in 2007.
