About Air Berlin:
Air Berlin was formed as a US supplemental carrier in 1978 by a former Pan Am Captain.
The carrier was incorporated as Air Berlin, Inc. At the end of the Cold War in 1990,
the carrier was traded as Air Berlin USA.
During the Cold War, all air traffic divided Germany’s former and present capital.
In addition to this restriction, all flightdeck crew flying aircraft in and out
of West Berlin through the Allied air corridors are required to hold American, British
or French passports.
